Maybe you are new to Lightroom and you are finding out what all the different Lightroom versions mean and which Lightroom version is the best for you? I will tell you everything about it.

First of all; what is Lightroom? Adobe Lightroom is a powerful tool for photographers. With this software, you can organize and edit images with ease and convert your RAW photos to other file types. In other words, Lightroom helps you take your photography to a higher level. The MG Presets are also suitable with the Lightroom software and can be used to edit your photos with a lot of ease.

For now, I will start to explain the differences between three popular options of Adobe Lightroom: Lightroom Mobile, Lightroom Classic CC, and Lightroom CC. Throughout this article, you’ll understand how these choices vary and will see which version is the best for you.

Lightroom Mobile

Lightroom Mobile, as the name suggests, is the mobile version of Lightroom CC, allowing you to access Lightroom from your iOS device (like your iPad or iPhone) or your Android device. It is a free app that you can download on your phone. So what are you waiting for? Download it here!

You can upload and edit your photos on Lightroom Mobile. This Lightroom version is the best choice for mobile phone photography. It is free, includes a rich variation of editing options and you can install presets on the Lightroom Mobile app. Just make sure, you purchase a preset which is compatible with Lightroom mobile. No worries; here are my presets which you upload immediately to Lightroom mobile.

Lightroom Classic CC

Lightroom Classic CC, which is often just called Lightroom Classic, is the original Lightroom program. It is a desktop-based program (meaning it makes use of a file/folder organization system). This allows you to import, organize, and edit your photos. Lightroom Classic is paid software. However, it is a very popular software among photographers, as it allows you to manage your photos in folders in a good way. Thereby the image editing functions available within Lightroom Classic are very good and varied. The editing functions are not as robust as Photoshop but are suitable for most photography editing tasks.

Lightroom CC

Lightroom CC is very similar to Lightroom Classic in many ways, but the greatest difference between the two is that Lightroom Classic is designed primarily for desktop use and Lightroom CC is a cloud-based service that brings your photos to the desktop, web, and mobile devices. With Lightroom CC your original photographs reside in the Adobe cloud. This allows access to your photos beyond your personal computer. The features are very similar to the Classic version, the editing options are a bit less than the Classic version and when it comes to exporting your photos, there are fewer file types available than in the Classic version. From my own experience, I would say Lightroom CC is more intuitive than Lightroom Classic. This makes it easy to learn to edit and work with Adobe Lightroom software.

Conclusion

Now you know the differences between the different Lightroom versions, you might wanna know; Which Lightroom version is the best for me? Well, Lightroom CC is perfect for photographers that want to edit anywhere and who love a simplified user interface. Lightroom Classic, however, is still the best when it comes to features. Lightroom Classic also offers more features for editing and has more customization for export settings. The Lightroom Mobile version is the best if you only photograph with your phone and you love to take your photos to a higher level.
